Life Unexpected |
My name is Heather. 24, Marine wife, mom of twins, lover of books, owls, and lovely pictures. Welcome to my unexpected life |
I don’t like working out. I know some people love working out, they could do it all day. They look forward to it and can’t wait to lace up those tennis shoes and get out there and sweat. Not me. I love the feeling after working out and I love the way I look when I consistently work out, but some days I just dread working out. Some days I would much rather curl up on the couch with some wine & a book, or watch a tv show and crochet. I’m an inherently lazy person.
I work everyday to overcome this. I try to focus on how I feel after and how I feel when I don’t work out consistently or when I don’t eat right. Frankly, I feel like crap. I feel sluggish and gross compared to when I’m eating right and drinking enough water and exercising. When I’m doing everything right, I feel amazing. I feel worn out, in a good way. I sleep better, I wake up with more energy, I just feel good. Even knowing this, sometimes it’s still hard to make myself workout.
What do I do then when I need some extra motivation?
*I look at pictures on Pinterest of healthy people and motivational quotes. Sometimes seeing fit people and being reminded that it takes consistent work every day to get results.
*I post on Facebook that I’m working out. If I post about it, I feel like I HAVE to do it. No backing down once you just told people you’re working out!
*I make deals with myself for something I want. It could be something small, like a new skein of yarn I’ve been eyeing or a new sports bra. Something small and not food related.
*Make my sister tell me to workout. She lives with me and if I try to whine and get out of it, she gets me in gear and the right frame of mind, reminding me why I’m working out.

Those are just a few things I do. What’s something you do to stay motivated when you don’t feel like working out?

Here is a Soldier stationed in Iraq in a big sand box. He asked his wife to send him dirt (U.S. soil),fertilizer & some grass seed so that he can have the sweet aroma and feel the grass grow beneath his feet. If you notice, he is even cutting the grass with a pair of a scissors.
When the men of the squadron have a mission that they are going on, they take turns walking through the grass and the American soil — to bring them good luck.
Coolest thing I’ve seen all day? Definitely.
theres something very spiritual in this.
